About ARTPARK & TANUH

ARTPARK is a non-profit foundation established by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to accelerate technology innovation in AI and Robotics. TANUH, an AI Centre of Excellence at IISc, builds scalable AI-driven solutions for non-communicable and infectious diseases.

Our dengue surveillance project leverages AI, mobile technology, and community health infrastructure to enable faster, more accurate outbreak detection and response—reaching the last mile of healthcare delivery across India.

Why This Role Matters: The Dengue Challenge in India

Dengue fever is one of the fastest-spreading vector-borne diseases in the world, with India bearing a disproportionately high burden:

•       India reports an estimated 100 million+ dengue infections annually, with many cases going unreported in rural areas.

•       Delayed detection leads to avoidable hospitalisations, fatalities, and overstrained healthcare systems.

•       Frontline health workers lack real-time digital tools to report, track, and act on outbreak signals.

As a Full Stack Intern with a frontend focus, you will help build the digital interfaces that put real-time dengue surveillance data in the hands of ASHAs, ANMs, and district health officers—turning community observations into actionable public health intelligence.

The Role

You will contribute to the end-to-end development of our dengue surveillance platform, with a strong emphasis on frontend engineering. You will work at the intersection of public health, AI, and mobile-first design—building interfaces that are intuitive for users in low-resource, low-connectivity settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Frontend Development (Primary): Design and build responsive, accessible web and mobile interfaces for data collection, case reporting, and outbreak dashboards using React.js.

  • UI/UX for Frontline Workers: Create user flows optimised for ASHAs and community health workers operating in low-bandwidth environments, prioritising offline-first and progressive web app (PWA) approaches.

  • API Integration: Consume RESTful APIs to connect frontend interfaces with backend data pipelines handling patient case data, geospatial signals, and alert systems.

  • Data Visualisation: Build interactive dashboards displaying dengue case trends, hotspot maps, and alert summaries for district health officers and program managers.

  • Backend Support (Secondary): Assist in developing and maintaining Node.js/TypeScript backend modules and database queries as needed, working alongside senior engineers.

  • AI Integration: Collaborate with AI researchers to integrate prediction models (e.g., outbreak risk scores) into the frontend, displaying results in a clear and actionable format.

  • Data Privacy: Adhere to best practices for health data security and compliance (DPDP/GDPR standards) throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Frontend (Strong): Proficiency in React.js; solid command of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).

  • UI Libraries: Familiarity with component libraries (e.g., Material UI, Ant Design, or Tailwind CSS).

  • State Management: Working knowledge of state management patterns (Redux, Context API, or similar).

  • API Consumption: Experience integrating RESTful APIs in frontend applications.

  • Version Control: Comfortable with Git-based workflows (branching, PRs, code reviews).

  • Backend Basics: Awareness of Node.js/TypeScript and SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

  • Education: Pursuing or recently completed B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data visualisation libraries such as D3.js, Chart.js, or Recharts.

  • Exposure to geospatial mapping libraries (Leaflet.js, Mapbox GL) for plotting outbreak hotspots.

  • Familiarity with PWA architecture and offline-first design patterns.

  • Interest or coursework in public health, epidemiology, or digital health systems.

  • Prior contributions to open-source projects or experience in a startup-like setting.

  • A genuine passion for social impact and building technology for underserved communities.

Why Join Us?

  • Real-World Impact: Your code will directly support India's frontline dengue response—not a classroom exercise.

  • World-Class Environment: Work alongside AI researchers, epidemiologists, and engineers at IISc, one of India's premier research institutions.

  • Mentorship & Growth: Receive structured guidance from senior engineers and transition from intern to a potential full-time role in a fast-growing AI health-tech team.

  • Multidisciplinary Culture: Bridge the gap between lab research and population-scale deployment—rare at any stage of your career.

  • Nationally Backed: Work on a project supported by the Ministry of Education, the Office of PSA, and ICMR.
