Field Technician/Field Technical Operations Associate

About Project RISHI:

The Climate & Health Initiative at ARTPARK works at the intersection of climate science, public health, and technology to strengthen climate resilience and health preparedness through data-driven and AI-enabled systems.

Within this initiative, ARTPARK is implementing activities under Project RISHI, a multi-partner initiative focused on deployment and management of weather monitoring instruments, wearable-based monitoring systems, and field implementation activities across project sites in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Key responsibilities:

Weather instrumentation and device operations 

●      Support installation, setup, maintenance, and routine checks of weather monitoring instruments and sensors

●      Monitor operational status and report equipment issues

●      Conduct basic troubleshooting and coordinate repairs/replacements when required

●      Ensure proper handling, storage, and functioning of field equipment

Wearable device management

●      Manage deployment and tracking of wearable devices used for field studies

●      Support participant onboarding and device usage guidance

●      Maintain logs of device allocation, collection, charging, syncing, and maintenance

●      Address basic device-related queries from field teams or participants

Data upload and basic data management

●      Upload and organise data collected from weather instruments and wearable devices

●      Maintain structured records and operational logs

●      Conduct basic data quality checks and flag missing or inconsistent data

●      Support data documentation and reporting workflows

Field Operations and Coordination

●      Visit field locations and project sites as required

●      Coordinate with local stakeholders, field staff, and implementation teams

●      Respond to operational issues and field support requests

●      Assist during pilot deployments, demonstrations, and field activities

Training and Operational Support

●      Support training sessions for field staff and project stakeholders

●      Demonstrate usage and handling of devices and instruments

●      Assist in preparation of SOPs, operational checklists, and training materials

●      Ensure adherence to project protocols and operational processes

Frequent field travels are a must and should take complete ownership of weather equipment and wearable devices management.

This role provides exposure to weather and environmental monitoring, wearable technologies,

field research operations and public health contexts. Candidates will have opportunities to grow into technical coordination, field systems management, research operations, and climate-tech implementation roles.

Educational Qualifications:

BSc/BVoc in electronics//instrumentation/electrical/environmental science/geography/data science/or any related disciplines. Candidates from other relevant technical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

●      0-3 years of relevant experience in field operations, instrumentation, technical support, IoT systems, environmental monitoring, public health projects, or related domains.

●      Freshers with strong technical aptitude and willingness to work in field settings may also apply


Required Skills

●      Basic understanding of electronic devices, sensors, instrumentation (weather and/or wearables)

●      Comfortable using smartphones, spreadsheets, Google Drive/OneDrive and digital tools

●      Ability to manage field operations and documentation

●      Basic understanding of data management and quality checks

●      Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

●      Good communication and coordination abilities (Tamil/Kannada language proficiency preferred)

●      Willingness to travel to field locations within Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
