Facility Manager – Campus Operations
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India (Managing facilities at ArtGarage and ARTPARK @ IISc)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly accountable Facility Manager to lead the end-to-end operations and management of a large research, innovation, and startup ecosystem facility in Bangalore. The role demands strong operational ownership, vendor management capability, infrastructure oversight, cost discipline, and the ability to work effectively with leadership teams, peers, service partners, and operational staff.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, operational readiness, safety, hygiene, utilities management, maintenance, security, logistics, food services, and process-driven facility governance across the campus
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Administration
Take complete ownership of day-to-day facility operations and campus management.
Ensure operational readiness, cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and uninterrupted functioning of the facilities.
Monitor and manage essential utilities, including power, water, DG backup, UPS and related infrastructure.
Ensure timely identification and resolution of operational issues impacting facility functionality.
Maintain high standards of workplace environment and occupant experience through proactive proposals and implementations.
Infrastructure Maintenance and Upkeep
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, interiors, cafeteria, common areas, and associated infrastructure.
Coordinate repairs, renovations, upgrades, and workspace expansion activities.
Seasonal cleanup of the facility and enforcing the rules across the facility for inmate usage
Ensure maintenance schedules are executed effectively with minimum operational disruption.
Track facility conditions and proactively plan improvement initiatives.
Maintain the old facility with frequent, proactive checks and stakeholder discussions to address safety and security concerns and upkeep the facility
Vendor and Service Management
Coordinate with HMT, external vendors, contractors, and service providers for continuous campus operations.
Manage vendor onboarding, performance monitoring, SLA compliance, and issue escalation.
Supervise housekeeping, cafeteria, security, maintenance, and support service vendors.
Ensure service quality, accountability, and timely delivery of facility-related services.
Take care of vendor and operators’ involvement, including timelines and safety; the job may require night work by vendors on demand and emergency service availability
Food Services and Hygiene Management
Manage cafeteria and pantry operations with a focus on hygiene, food safety, and service quality.
Coordinate with food vendors to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Conduct periodic inspections and corrective actions related to food handling and cleanliness.
Logistics and Stores Management
Oversee logistics coordination, material movement, inventory management, and stores operations.
Maintain records of consumables, facility assets, maintenance materials, and critical spares.
Ensure proper stock management and optimisation of operational resources.
Aid material shift by arranging labour/vehicle/crane kind of arrangements for loading and unloading operations, and maintain clear books with the organisation's financial management software
Safety, Security, and Compliance
Ensure campus safety, perimeter security, and a secure operational environment for employees, startups, visitors, and assets.
Coordinate with security teams for access control, surveillance, visitor management, and incident handling.
Support fire safety, emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, and safety drills.
Coordinate with government authorities and external agencies for facility-related operational matters and compliance requirements.
Procurement and Cost Management
Manage operational expenses within approved budgets and support cost optimisation initiatives.
Coordinate procurement of facility-related equipment, consumables, and services.
Evaluate quotations, negotiate with vendors, and ensure value-driven procurement decisions.
Track and report facility operating expenses and resource utilisation.
Process Development and Team Management
Develop and implement facility management SOPs, checklists, escalation processes, and operational frameworks.
Build, supervise, and mentor the facility operations team for efficient execution.
Drive process improvements, operational discipline, and service standardisation.
Establish reporting mechanisms and operational dashboards for management review.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with deep exposure to Facility Management, Administration, Operations, or related discipline.
Additional certifications in Facility Management, Safety, or Operations Management will be an advantage.
Experience Required
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in facility management, campus operations, workplace administration, or infrastructure operations.
Experience managing large corporate campuses, R&D centres, technology parks, incubation ecosystems, or institutional facilities preferred.
Proven experience in vendor management, maintenance operations, budgeting, procurement, and team handling.
