XraySetu is AI driven Xray interpretation for early intervention via WhatsApp, built together at ARTPARK, Niramai & IISc. We see that in COVID wave 2, owing to delay in diagnosis, patients are turning up late in hospital with low oxygen levels and succumbing quickly, specially in rural India, where 65% of India's 1.3bn population lives. Unfortunately, out of 10,000+ radiologists active in India, 90% of them are in urban places. This prompted us to build XraySetu, targeting doctors in rural India. Xray setu helps in early lung disease identification which are not easily discernible to untrained eyes in rural settings. We are currently having 300+ doctors in rural areas use the first version of our Pilot for early intervention especially in COVID-19 cases via WhatsApp & Telegram chat groups, where RTPCR is awaited/ suspected false negative and/or CT imaging is unavailable. Built on the back of 125000 Xray images data over last 10 months, our AI algorithms are working even with low resolution Xray images to aid quick intervention by the Doctors. Now we are looking to scale this through a simple XraySetu WhatsApp Chatbot to help precious lives in these dire times in Rural India. ARTPARK is an autonomous section-8, not-for-profit company, a joint initiative of IISc and AIfoundry, seed-funded by DST (Department of Science and Technology ) and GoK (Government of Karnataka). It is currently incubated at the Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems at IISc.
