ARTPARK (AI & Robotics Technology Park) @ IISc is pleased to announce the Student Innovation Grant Program. The program invites highly motivated and talented faculty members, along with their under-graduate and post-graduate students, to apply for research projects in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous Systems. The objective of this program is:
To expose talented students to opportunities in the upcoming domain of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Autonomous Systems, providing high-level guidance, promoting innovation, and facilitating skills development leading to application development and prototype building.
To provide grants to eligible students pursuing courses at various science and engineering colleges, research organization, universities or any academic organization recognized by AICTE/UGC for research projects in the aforesaid domain.
The program provides grants (including stipends for students) to support final-year projects (in the case of under-graduates) and master’s thesis (in the case of post-graduates). In the current round, we expect to award around 20 grants for under-graduate category, and around 40 grants for post-graduate category (subject to budget availability and approval).
Faculty members of any engineering department of an academic institution recognized by AICTE/UGC are eligible to apply for project funding. The UG students that the faculty member proposes to include in the project must have completed at least six semesters of their program. For project proposals involving PG students, the students must have completed at least two semesters of their curriculum. A final-year under-graduate project can have a maximum of four students, and a post-graduate project is meant to support one master’s student. Each faculty member will be allowed to submit only one application in each category. As far as the nature of the project is concerned, there are no restrictions. However, for under-graduate category, preference will be given to those that have innovative design and implementation components.
Duration and Nature of grant
The projects under the grant are expected to last for one year (August 2021 – July 2022). The grants include stipends for students for under-graduate final-year projects and to PG students for master’s thesis.
Funding support – Up to Rs. 1.8 lakhs (for purchase of hardware/software/equipment, project related travel, incidentals, etc.)
Monthly stipend – Rs. 10,000/month (for each UG student) and Rs 15,000/month (for each PG student) for the entire project period.
Once this is done, the instructions for proposal submission will be mailed to the respective faculty member. Selection of project proposals will be done by ARTPARK’s technical committee.
Prizes for best two projects in each category (UG and PG)
The ARTPARK student innovation grant program envisages awarding prizes to the most innovative projects. The top two projects in each category (UG and PG), will be selected for cash prizes at the end of the year. The prize amounts will be as follows:
First prize: Rs. 1 lakh
Second prize: Rs. 50,000
Apart from the cash prizes, the winning students will also have access to the ARTPARK Spark Innovation Program as well as a one-year paid internship at ARTPARK, which will provide them an excellent opportunity to work further on the innovative ideas developed during the project.
